Between Worlds brings together the work of Caroline Jackson and Tim Garwood, two contemporary British artists whose abstract practices explore the intersections of structure, spontaneity, and materiality.
Caroline Jackson (b. 1999, UK) is a London-based painter whose intuitive, emotionally driven approach draws on both natural landscapes and architectural forms. A graduate of The Slade School of Fine Art, Jackson works with charcoal, oil pastel, and acrylic to build richly textured surfaces. Her gestural marks create spaces where balance, impermanence, and transformation coexist.
Tim Garwood (b. 1984, UK), based between urban London and rural Somerset, creates highly tactile works using found materials such as denim, lace, sacking, and IKEA tablecloths. His process (pouring, brushing, and squirting paint) is raw and improvisational, influenced by artists like Joan Mitchell and Frank Bowling. Garwood’s compositions offer a sensory, grounded approach to abstraction that reflects both memory and place.
Though distinct in method, both artists are united by an instinctive sensitivity to material and environment. Highlights include Garwood’s Underneath All the Thunder There’s Magic (2024) and Four Shadows (2024), which pulse with energy and texture, and Jackson’s Brisk (2024) and Rewild (2025), which explore the dynamic tension between gesture and form.
Together, Jackson and Garwood create a compelling dialogue on how abstraction can evoke presence and reinterpret the landscapes- internal and external- that shape us.
