Matt Lipps

Lipps pulls out imagery from the American arts and culture magazine Horizon to create complex tableaux which he lights up in psychedelic colours and then recaptures in a single photograph.

Lipps received his MFA from University of California, Irvine in 2004. His work has featured in key shows on new trends in photography such as at the FOAM museum Amsterdam, and his work is in the collections of Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Saatchi Collection, The Pilara Foundation Collection/Pier 24, San Francisco, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles and the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles.
