Sissa Micheli

Sissa Micheli was born in Bruneck, Italy in 1975. She studied at the School for artistic photography, Vienna in 2000 and went on to complete a Diploma at Art Academy, Vienna.

With their multilayered, epic layers of meaning, Micheli’s work questions the everyday and the familiar. They’re situated at the interface between photography and film, with staging being the starting point for her works.

Sissa Micheli’s notable solo shows include the Italian Embassy Vienna, Austrian Cultural Forum, London, Künstlerhaus, Halle für Kunst und Medien (KM-) Graz. Prizes she has won include the Academy Prize of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 2008.
