We were delighted to welcome Ingrid Betancourt to The Arts Club for a talk on the topics of resilience and mental wellbeing during the Spring of 2017.
As a Colombian senator from 1998 – 2000 and anti-corruption activist, Ingrid was kidnapped by Marxist guerrillas of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) while campaigning for the Colombian Presidency.
After being held for nearly 7 years in Colombia’s vast rain forest, she was liberated on 2 July 2008, in a daring rescue staged by the Colombian army.
Ingrid has received many international awards as well as being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
