Celebrated contemporary artists, Nick Hornby and Oliver Beer, joined us online for a conversation about art in the time of Covid-19, through the lens of their recent solo shows, Beer’s ‘Oma’ at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac London (Sep-Oct 2020) and Hornby’s ‘Zygotes and Confessions’ at MOSTYN (showing until 18th April, 2021).
Nick Hornby is a sculptor known for large works in bronze, marble and steel described as ‘often imposing, mind-bending and futuristic-looking’, while Oliver Beer works with sculpture, performance and film. Though they may appear to have little in common, both artists engage with slicing, impregnated meaning and translations of form. Last summer they co-curated an original exhibition mixing recent graduates with established artists in a vast warehouse in Soho, currently serving as Beer’s studio.
