In 2011, when the club relaunched after extensive renovations, we opened our first exhibition in the drawing room and anteroom with ground-breaking American artist Theaster Gates, who has since gone on to worldwide renown in museums, biennales and more. Curated by Wedel Art, the programme has continued with this spirit, showing such radical artists from across ages as Sam Gilliam, Frank Bowling, Christina Quarles, Faith Ringgold, Henry Taylor, Jeffrey Gibson, Jordan Nassar, Fahd Burki, Gutai artists, Eastern European Avant-Garde and many more.
If the collection greets members like old friends, the exhibitions keep our space dynamic and at the centre of the conversation in contemporary art. We are incredibly grateful to all of the artists and galleries who have worked closely with us on these shows, and look forward to sharing with you new ideas to come.
